It's Almost 2009!

Can you believe it? This year has just flown by. Well, it seems this year isn't any different in that I'm scrambling to get a calendar for 2009 before it actually IS 2009!

This year I decided to try something different. I always scrap one that is year specific. Thus, when the year is over I either throw it away to replace it. Hummm. I decided I needed a perpetuial calendar so I can ALWAYS use it.

Well, my Zutter Zister, Jennifer Priest, created a cool one a couple of months back that I really love. So, I borrowed her idea, but, I made mine hang up instead of sit in place and, mine has a clipboard/chalkboard companion for those ever present notes about school and teachers and scouts, etc.

Here's what I ended up with and I've included the instructions so you can make one too!

Supplies:
One Set Zutter 8x10 Clipboard Covers
One set Zutter 6x6 Acrylic Covers
One Zutter 12 inch diameter O-Wire: Black, 1 inch diameter
Zutter Silver Rivets
Chipboard scraps
Teresa Collins Patterned Paper scraps
Making Memories Jumbo Brads
We R Memory Keepers extra large eyelets
Creative Imaginations Ribbon
7 Gypsies and The Stamp Company Stamps
Reminisce Number Rub Ons
Ranger Distress ink: Black Soot
Black board Paint

Instructions:

8x10 Clipboard Covers:

Deco podge front and back of one clipboard cover with patterned paper. Round corners with corner rounder. Punch row of six holes with BIA on each end of clipboard on right hand side.

Deco podge back of second clipboard cover with patterned paper. Paint front with blackboard paint. Cut two 1 ¾ x 8 inch strips from patterned paper and deco podge to top and bottom front of clipboard cover. Punch holes and add three eyelets and ribbon across bottom. Round corners with corner rounder. Punch row of six holes with BIA on each end of clipboard on right hand side. Add O-wires and bind two sides together.

Take a clip and use it as a pattern. Punch two holes in each clipboard and attach clips with rivets.

Calendar: Cut a 6x6 Acrylic cover to 5 ¼ x 6 inches. Punch holes in the 5/1/4” x 12” by centering the piece in the BIA.

Cut 33 chipboard pieces to 1 ¼ x 4 inches. Cover with patterned paper, front and back. Stamp month of the year on 12, and days of the week on 7. Rub on number 0-3 on 4 and 0-9 on 10. Then punch the 33 pieces in the BIA as follows:

Months of the Year:
Punch with the piece butted up against the black guide and set at “C”. The patterned paper side of each piece should face the word “Zutter” on the machine while punching.

Numbers 0-3:
Punch with the piece butted up against the black guide and set at “C”. The blank chipboard side of each piece should face the word “Zutter” on the machine while punching.

Numbers 0-9 and Days of Week:
Insert into Bind-It-All and line up one edge of each page with the centering arrow on the machine and punch binding holes.

Thread the binding wires through the holes in the acrylic piece . And then the chipboard pieces form right to left: days of the week, numbers 0-9; number 0-3, months. Then Bind. Punch four holes in the corners of the 5 ¼ x 6 inch piece. Use those holes as guides to punch holes in the clipboard. Attach acrylic piece butted up under clip with rivets. Punch holes and add grommets and ribbon to calendar pieces.

Hang it up and use it!!

After you've made your on calendar don't forget to head over to the Zutter Zisters site and check out all the newest projects and visit us on the blog too!

The True Spirit of Christmas

It's easy this time of year to get caught up in holiday parties, decorating, gift buying and one's family and forget the selflessness in the true meaning of Christmas. A blogger friend of mine is doing a very wonderful and selfless thing for the holiday. She is auctioning off a beautiful handmade bear. the proceeds going to a family in need. Please take a look at her blog and consider bidding on "Snowflake" it is, after all, in the spirit of the true meaning of Christmas. Visit her Here. And...Merry Christmas to you.

I love to decorate for the holidays! Here is a table top decoration I created using a variety of Zutter products: the Bind It All, 6x6 Acrylic and Chipboard covers, corner rounder, rivets, rivet setting set and the pound it all. I used Teresa Collins Tis The Season papers. I just love that collection.

Clearly the Holidays are upon us!

It's that time of year again! Presents, cards, songs and friends. I finally began working on my Christmas cards.

Removed for publication....

I created this with Prima products. They are so versatile and inspiring. I colored Clear Paintables (#812584) with a sharpie and used watercolor pencils on a Paintable (#602284). I then decorated the card and paintables with Got Flowers Pink (#505288) and Peach (#505073); Velvet Leaves (#527044); Say It In Crystals Swirls (#525170) and Frosty Treats (#527747).
