Scrapping Your Boy

It sure appears to this scrapper that having girls and being able to scrap them is easier than having boys and trying to scrap them. There are endless choices available to those of us scrapping about our girls. But the choices are much more limited when it comes to boys.

That's why I'd like to suggest Harlee Quinnz Designs The Scents I Remember Collection. This is a wonderful masculine line.

Here are the papers in this collection:

Check out the kind of layouts you can create with these papers on the Harlee Quinnz Designs Blog or on the Scrapperie Freestyle Challenge Forum. Here's the one from Scrapperie:

Happy creating!

Any way you do it, I urge you to join me in helping the people of Haiti. They truely need all our support. Thanks so much and God Bless.

Ask anyone who has finished one of our challenges (challenge gallery) and they will agree, our challenges will inspire YOU to be more

ARTISTIC!

(the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression),

IMAGINATIVE!

(marked by independence and creativity in thought or action),

STIMULATED!

(exhilarating: making lively and cheerful),

INVENTIVE!

(The meaning of invention is the creation of a new configuration, composition of matter, device, or process),

and

SATISFIED!!!

(That satisfies, gratifies, pleases or comforts)!"

I am so thrilled to offer you MY interpretation of challenge #8: Frame and Fill, as one of the THREE (yes, three!!) Guest Designers for January!

mment below, and to visit our blogs as well (links are in the sidebar.) The challenge is kept brief to allow room for you to interpret it creatively.

Here it is Challenge #8:
Challenge 8 – Frame & Fill (frame - good size, found, repurposed, purchased, wood, or metal, etc… fill – image, artwork, copy-right free image, or collage, etc...)

•Theme – Birds (real, fantasy, feathers, eggs, nests, or trees, etc…)
•Required material – Glass (marbles, sea glass, microscope slides, altered frame glass, broken mirror or glass tesserae, etc…)

In my interpretaion I created a wintry canvas with acrylics, Prima paintables, Harlee Quinnz Designs patterned papers, mirror pieces and beeswax. I created my antiqued frame by glazing a used frame with a handmade glaze of acrylic extender and Ranger Vintage Photo Reinker. I added branches, leaves, flowers, snow and ice (in the form of Ranger Glossy Accents, White Glitter and White Pearl Fabric Paint) and a bird with handcrafted feathered wings and tail holding a vintage chandalier crystal. My theme: Awakwening (as in Come On Spring!).

Be sure and check out the Bad Girls Project 52 Blog for more artisitic interpretations of this challenge! Hope you'll join us in creating!

Bad Girls Project 52 January Guest Designer!

So much to do........so little time! Now that the holidays are behind us, it's time for me to get my posterior in gear and create!

One of my goals for 2010 is to do more "me" projects. Don't get me wrong, everything I do has "me" in it. 150%! But a lot of what I create is dictated by manufacturers and their needs. Lately, I have gotten away from the mixed media and altered arts that are my true passion.

There's a perfect place for me out there is cyberland, that inspires and motivates me: Bad Girls Project 52 . What is this you ask? Well in their own words, "BAD GIRLS PROJECT 52 is an artistic community of 10 artists who share their view of a very poignant challenge that is put forth to them every 2nd and 4th Monday. We welcome everyone to join us on this journey and share their artistry also...it is our hope that by playing with us you will find peace and calm in all areas of art and gain more insight into the wonderful world of mixed media....

If you are NEW to us, join in and we answer your questions here
Ask anyone who has finished one of our challenges (challenge gallery) and they will agree, our challenges will inspire YOU to be more

ARTISTIC!"

I created this for their #6 Challenge, Arches.

And...Yay!! I have been asked to be a Guest Designer for January and I'll be sharing a challenge with you soon (challenge #8!). In the meantime, please check out Bad Girls Project 52 Challenge #7 here!! I hope you will join in the challenges and join us on the board!!

Happy 2010!

Well, hard to believe it's 2010. I still the whole Y2K scare like it was yesterday....the time goes quickly, doesn't it?

With the holidays behind us now, I've begun taking down our tree. I have a few ornaments to share. I make an ornament every year theat features each of the kids. A way to "see" them growing up for Christmas. Here's what I did:

As I was putting things away, I accidentally cracked an ornament. This really upset my DS as it was one he gave me. So I couldn't just trash it. Instead, I repaired it with mod podged vintage book pages. Then I changed the color with alcohol ink, added German glass glitter, shredded vintage paper, a Prima flower, a broken vintage pendant and an embossed metal bird. I like the results!

Maybe you have the urge to alter an ornament too before packing eveything away! If you do there's a cool challenge over at Art de Scrap blog . Come join in! And......Happy New Year!!!
