Some Random Art

an update and a prayer request.

I love birds and bird cages....but I hate the mess it presents. So when I found a beat up bird cage at a flea market I snatched it up. Not content to leave it plain Jane (no offense to anyone named Jane), I decorated it with Cosmo Cricket Chemistry papers using my Cricut and Purple Cows #1060 Trimmer and decorative blades. Then I addes some faux birds to complete it. Here's the finished product....whadda ya think???? BTW I'd like to mention that I used Helmar PCV Glue....if you haven't tried this glue, you need to! It glues anything to anything!!

I have an eldery neighbor that I will probably be giving this to. I hope it is something she will enjoy...

The update...sent out packages today to my runner up winners for my huge blog giveaway. I also sent antoher RAK owed to Katie. Sorry for the delay ladies!!!!

I am awaiting an email from Ann Arbogast with her snail mail to mail out her grand prize for my huge blog giveaway.

I am also awaiting emails from Connie and Ellen S. for my Purple Cows Blog Hop RAKs...ladies I need this information by Friday, March 26 at midnight CST OR I WILL DRAW NEW WINNERS!!!

And a prayer request: I have a friend who has recently experienced a sudden family tragedy, please lift her family up in prayer, May God give them the strength to deal with this all. Thank you all in advance for this!!!!

Happy Creating!

Bad Girls Project 52: Guest Designer Challenge!

3~D Homes:

{paper, board, fabric, box, metal etc. Any material choice. All sides must be considered, Art in the round!!}

THEME: Dreams
{past/present/future, actualized or not, night/day etc.}

REQUIRED MATERIAL:
Buttons {any type/shape/size/number/color/material}

THE WINNER OF CHALLENGE #12 WILL BE THE NEXT BAD GIRLS PROJECT 52 GUEST DESIGNER!!!

POST YOUR ENTRIES BY APRIL 10, 2010, YOU MUST POST IN THE PROJECT 52 GALLERY AND LINK BACK TO THE FORUM POST WITH YOUR CREATION

Here is my interpretion of the challenge:

Supplies:
cardboard
twigs-4
copper wire
packing paper
mod podge
elmer's glue
glimmer mist: fall leaves
flocking: brown, green
beads: various colors and sizes
buttons (tabbed, they are mushrooms!)
chipboard
clipart of Alice
white card stock
vintage book pages
acrylic paint: robin's egg
prima flowers (mini) & patterned paper
fiskars butterfly punch
circle punch 1”
martha stewart glitter: green
chandelier crystal
knobs-4 (feet)

Tip for re-creating this at home:
Break twigs off even at one end to glue to cardboard. Once glued and dry, wrap with copper wire to form “branches”. Paper mache this to form tree trunk and branches. (have them come together in the middle to form “roof” for your house.) Paint on, don't spray the glimmer mist....it's easier to control this way. Use buttons with a shank as mushrooms. Punch circles in patterned paper , cut circles in half, trim with scissors to form grass tufts. Decorate your forest “house” area with flocking for soil and grass; flowers, beads and glitter.....you can use mod podge to get this all to stick. (if you spray this all with a sealer once it's dry, the flocking won't come off at a touch). Decorate a chipboard girl shape for Alice. Attach her with a copper wire up through the chipboard and into the cardboard base – this way she moves around! Punch out TONS of butterflies, for lots of magic.

Good morning all! Welcome to the Purple Cows St. Patty's Day Blog Hop! If you have started here, please go to the Purple Cows Blog to start!! If you've hopped here from Tanisha Long' blog.....Welcome!!!!

I have a St. Patrick's Day themed ATC to share with you today. It uses four of my favorite Purple Cows products: the #1040: 2 in 1 trimmer, decorative blades, #3020 laminator and small laminating pockets. Here's what I did:

1. Cut a 2 1/2"X3 1/2" piece of white cardstock. Ink the edges with ColorBox liquid chalk.

2. Sprinkle the inside of a laminating pocket with alcohol ink, let dry. Run this through laminator on one end of the ATC. Cut off excess on sides, trim bottom with decorative blade. Cut slits every 1/8" in laminated piece.

3. Punch out and cut out St. Patty's Day items. Decorate ATC.
4. Chalk edges of Petaloo flower, add to front of ATC with ribbon strips and extra small brad.
5. Add punched shape to back of ATC to cover back of brad. Spray with Smooch, let dry. Add strips to back.
6. Decorate front and back of ATC with rub ons to complete.

Hope you enjoy my project!

Please leave me a comment by Sunday, March 21, 2010 and be entered for a random RAK drawing!
