A New Spinner Album

I just HAD to play with the new Zutter Spinner Album Kit this month. The kit comes with everything you need to create the basic spinner. You build it (literally!), add papers, embellishments, photos, journaling and....TA DA!! You're done!! The directions (on the Zutter Zisters site) are specific, easy to follow and clear.

But....for those of you who know me...I NEVER read directions, I don't like them! Besides, I wanted to add papers to my album BEFORE I bound it. Now, be forewarned, like the directions say (okay...so, I did take a peek), if you add papers to your chipboard and inner pages before you bind..It'll be too big to bind. I knew this, but I did it anyway because I also wanted to play with my Scor-It Mini. This fun little tool can score things up to five inches wide and since my spinner pages are four inches wide...perfect!

I cut almost all the inner page paper longer than four inches, then punched the outside edge with a border punch..I used six in all, I think... scored and attached to the inner pages. Doing the album this way results in two fewer tabbed and untabbed chipboard pieces and eight fewer inner pages. But it looks awesome and for those of you counting, that means it still has: eight tabbed chipboard pages (that's 16 scrapable sides!); eight regular chipboard pages (16 MORE scrapable sides) and 32 inner pages (64 scrapable sides...whooo!)....that's 96 scrapable sides!!!!!!

Please check out all the wonderful projects the DT put together this month on the Zutter Zisters site.

E.A.D. Designs Blog Hop

Howdy y'all!! It's that Blog Hop time of the month again at E.A.D. Designs! The Creative Team has been busy creating projects with the yummy E.A.D. vinyl and the Designers have been busy creating new products!!!

I have this (or rather HAD this) blank end to my cabinets in the kitchen that really needed something to spruce it up. I combined an E.A.D. Chalk It Vinyl Menu Board, a Fiskars Border Punch, Creative Memories Corner and 1 1/4 inch Square Punch, foam core, 7 Gypsies trinkets and gaffer tape, Graphic 45 papers, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Prima Flowers, Queen and Company chipboard alphas, some old buttons and Ranger Distress and Alcohol Inks to create a menu!

Here's the how to:

Use a downsized Chalk It Menu board (8x12). Apply this to foam core and cut out with a craft knife. Cover the raw cut edges with gaffer tape. Punch four squares from patterned paper, cut in half, punch with corner rounder, ink and glue to four corners of menu. Use alcohol ink to dye color of 7 Gypsies knob. Attach to menu board.

Cover cabinet end with patterned paper using Modge Podge. Use the menu board as a pattern to cut a header and footer. Ink heavily, punch flat ends with border punch. Attach at top and bottom of cabinet.

Cut four one inch strips for the outer border. Punch one side with border punch and glue around outside of area.

Spray flowers with Glimmer Mist and let dry. Ink chipboard alphas. Embellish area with flowers, chipboard alphas and buttons to complete.

E.A.D. Designs Blog Hop

Welcome to the first Creative Team Blog Hop for E.A.D. Designs! Today the Creative Team will show off their projects using wonderful E.A.D. products!! And....we'll be hosting giveaways too!!

Here's my project featuring Girl Definitions....

E.A.D. Vinyl is great! You can attach it to card stock, patterned paper, photos. You can cut it apart and use it in pieces, paint it, stamp it, highlight it. For my layout, with the Girl Definitions Vinyl, I used cardstock and Kaiser Craft papers, Prima sheer flowers, Zutter Bind It All (for the border punch), Making Memories glitter chipboard, Creative Imaginations ribbon, Queen & company tag and brad, Ranger Stickles and a Sakura green gel pen. I also cut the definition apart, so I had more freedom to mount it within the layout. I hope you like it!

Leave me a comment and tell me how you would use the Girl Definitions Vinyl in one of your projects. And...you could win it! Comment by Friday, May 15 at midnight (CST) and I'll announce a winner Saturday, May 16th! Now!! Hop on over to my fellow CT member's blogs for more inspiration (and giveaways!!):

Happy Mother's Day!

I was so blessed to be asked to join the Purple Cows Design Team recently. When it was time to do a project. I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to pay tribute to the greatest person in the world for Mother's Day. Here's my story:

I lost my Mom six years ago.......there's not a day that passes that I don't think of her. Her laugh, her smile, her innocence, her total joy for life; she was a one in a million blessing. She was the most wonderful Mom a child could have: always there in any way..to wipe away tears, smile with pride, say: "Go on, you can do it".

It's ironic, I was pregnant with my first child when she passed. She never got to meet her grandson. And, I see her in his smile-the way it lights up his face....it swells my heart and sometimes brings on the sting of tears.

And, even though she's gone..I still celebrate her on Mother's Day. She loved flowers, carnations especially, but she was allergic..so she didn't get them much. I made her a basket of hypo-allergenic flowers.

So I hope you will take the time this Sunday to celebrate that special person in your life....Mom. I also hope you'll hop over to the Purple Cows Blog and take a look at my project. I hope it inspires you to do something super special to say, "I love you Mom" to your Mom too.

Happy Mother's Day!

Clear Scraps and Boy Stuff

I did this album a while back. I used clear scraps 12x12 acrylic and a wooden car craft item I found locally. I scanned the car into my computer, made it larger and printed out a template. I transferred the car image onto the acrylic with a sharpie and cut it out by hand with a hot craft knife.

Then I decorated it with all the car things my DS loooves.

Hope you like it!
